About Dr. NF Steyn

Dr. Nickietta Steyn, a dedicated specialist physician in Internal Medicine, has over a decade of experience in the diagnosis, treatment, and management of a wide range of medical conditions. She is committed to providing holistic patient care, emphasizing the importance of treating the whole person rather than just the symptoms.

Education

Dr. Steyn earned her MBChB from the University of Pretoria in 2014 and later completed her Masters in Medicine (MMed) in June 2023. She also holds the FCP(SA) Internal Medicine certification from the Colleges of Medicine South Africa (CMSA).

 

Her professional journey includes roles at Steve Biko Academic Hospital, Tambo Memorial Hospital, and Phillip Moyo Community Health Centre, where she has honed her clinical and problem-solving skills. Dr. Steyn's dedication to patient care is complemented by her strong communication abilities, enabling her to work effectively with patients, their families, and multidisciplinary teams.

 

In addition to her clinical practice, Dr. Steyn is actively involved in medical research, with a notable publication on COVID-19 severity and in-hospital mortality in an area with high HIV prevalence in the South African Journal of HIV Medicine. She also engages in continuous medical education and has completed several advanced courses in emergency medicine, trauma, and life support.

Fee Policy

This practice is contacted in with Discovery Health medical scheme. This means you will not have to pay upfront for your consultation fee or tests (we will submit the bill to the medical aid electronically) if you have a Discovery Health plan.
However, should you not have sufficient savings/ benefits available, you will have to pay any shortfall.


For other medical aid plans, general consultation fees are charged at a standard rate. The patient has to settle this fee upon visiting the practice and may claim back from your medical aid.
Depending on the consultation, additional tests may be done. We will claim these costs back from your medical aid (should you have funds available).

In-hospital consultation fees are generally charged at medical scheme rates and are claimed directly from your medical aid (should you have funds available).
